Electromagnetics Effects Engineer

Position Summary: The Electrical Subsystems Directorate (ESD) - Subsystem Design and Architecture Department is currently searching for an Electrical Engineer with experience in electromagnetics to perform as a member of the environmental electromagnetics effect (E3) group. Responsible for being an individual contributor as part of the E3 Technology Team for the success of Missile Systems programs related to electromagnetic effects Responsible for derivation of E3 requirements at component, subsystem and platform level. Electromagnetic (EMI/EMC) design and test, integration and documentation. Systems thinker familiar with EMI mitigation techniques and the theory behind EM effects on hardware from the platform level down to the subsystem and component level. Ideal candidate will have familiarity with missile hardware as well as RF experience with emphasis in RADAR theory and operations. Have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with government agencies as well as internal and external customers This position can be a Sr. Electrical Engineer I or a Sr. Electrical Engineer II based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience, and responsibility requirements for the position. Required Experience & Skills : Minimum 4 years of electromagnetics experience Knowledge of latest versions of military specifications (MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464). Knowledge of methods and techniques for controlling electromagnetic interference within electronic assemblies, controlling radiated and conducted emissions from electronic assemblies and preventing external electromagnetic radiation from entering electronic assemblies. Knowledgeable in grounding and shielding Knowledge of protecting against high energy electro-magnetic sources such as High Altitude Electro-Magnetic Pulse (HEMP), radio frequency Directed Energy Weapons (DEW) and near strike and direct strike lightning. Ability to perform analysis on impact of electromagnetic events Ability to prepare E3 related test plans and procedures Strong problem solving skills with ability to proactively identify alternate solutions to overcome moderate technical design challenges Desired Experience & Skills : Experience in RF Subsystems and demonstrated understanding of architecture, design, and integration processes. Analytical experience in modeling, simulation and/or design margin analysis of natural and man- made electromagnetic effects Ability to perform MIL-STD-461 tests Knowledge of electromagnetic modeling software Key Responsibilities (Essential Functions): Participate as an individual contributor supporting program activities Execution of assigned program related tasks, including supporting gate reviews and design reviews Presenting at program design reviews Make critical engineering judgments with minimal review by supervisor Development of E3 related documentation to include analyses, test plans/procedures, control plans and test reports. Occasional travel to support off-site testing Required Education (including Major): A Bachelor's of Science in Electrical Engineering or Physics . Security Requirement: Must be able to obtain a DoD issued Secret Security Clearance. DoD Top Secret clearance desired with current SSBI within last 5 years. U.S. citizenship is required for purposes of obtaining clearances. . Security Requirement: This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Non-US citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Defense Industrial Security Clearance Office (DISCO), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. Security clearance factors include, but are not limited to, allegiance to the US, foreign influence, foreign preference, criminal conduct, security violations and drug involvement.
